My artistic statement

In my portfolio there will be about 15 projects we have done thought out the whole semester. Some of the projects were done by season some were done just because we had to learn new tools. Out of all my projects I think my best Lyrics was my best project yet because it tells a little of about my self and the type of music I like to listen to. The reason for me picking this project would be because about 2 weeks ago my friend Miguel Mora came back from basic training from the army and all my friend and Mora and I were sitting around Mora said we should listen to that song and we did and we could all relate to this song in many different ways.

I feel very good about my portfolios because I know that my portfolio is one of the best there is. It is very organized because I keep it up to date I am not going to miss a post even if I did a sloppy job it still has to be posted because its part of my grade. I feel that it is very tight and clean everything that is in there is my best except my social issue. The reason is I didn’t take my time with it I think I could have done better but I didn’t take my time and I know I could have done way better then it is right now but hopefully next semesters I know I will do good.

The project I struggled with is probably Haunted Chavez because it took me awhile to get shots I needed to complete my project. In the future I know what I have to due I have to give myself a dead line instead of just doing it in a hurry I should take my time doing It and not rush thought it like I did before I now know that when I take my time I do way better and when I’m in hurry I do very sloppy work my father always said take your time with something why do it twice when you can do it once. The things that I have improved on would have to be using tools because at first I use to experiment with them and just trying them but know I have become very filmier with them and they are easy to use and also I have improved on my listening skills.

Lyrics

The lyrics I chose for this project are Bartender by rehab.

I chose these lyric because one day me and my friends were just sitting around and we started talking about how are lives would be in the future and we listen to this song and we were like we would probably all do everything this guy did so that the reason and my friends are just like brothers.

I don’t really relate to these lyrics just yet because only some of this stuff has happen just the getting slap and drinking part and this girl took my heart and gave it back in pieces.

These lyrics mean a lot to me because when my friends and I were sitting around it was before a few of them left to there base where they were going to be stationed and we all made a pack that this would be our #1 song as brothers.

These lyrics make me feel happy because I know when I read this it takes me back to when we used to hang out as a group and I know that we can all sit back one day and remember the good times.

Social Issue

In my social issues I chose to do my school colors. The reason for me picking my school colors were because I have been here for about a good four years and I became attached to this school. I have met a lot of new people and that’s why I love Cesar Chavez high school. For my social issue it’s not really an issue it’s more in what I believe in. I believe since I have been here for the past four years I have suck in the purple and silver which are our colors.

In my social issue picture my true colors were purple and good old silver. I would be willing to fight and bleed these two wonderful colors and I would do anything to keep them how they are. I have been with these colors for a good 4 years and I would not change them ever for as long as I may live my true and only colors will be good old purple and silver I hope the colors never get changed at least as long as I live.

Haunted Chavez

My Project was called haunted Chavez because it was the time of Halloween and we had to come up with a scary theme and do some crazy and realistic things with it but it had to be of Chavez.

My idea had already came to my head the first day we were in class talking about it and I didn’t change anything I kept with my idea and I followed it thought I stuck with my plan and left it how it was.

The most difficult things were who was I going to use for my people in the background and if so when would I be able to get pictures of them and how many I would need but then people would ask me if I needed extras so that made it a bit easer for me.

The thing I did best on this photo was the placement of everyone of where they were going to be and the position in which they lay in. some other thing would be the background and also my favorite thing is me I designed myself to be green.

Overall I think I did great I had a good plan and I knew what I was going to do even thought I might have got mad sometime but hey that’s what will happen sometimes we all aren’t perfect I had a few problem but I over came and defeated the problem and I had a great time with this picture.

Critique: Parkeharrison's "Gaurdian"

A man sits upon a tree on stilts while a very thick fog covers up the back. The man looking down like he about to jump out of the tree and the tree has branches that wrap around him like if he were part of the tree. It looks like he is looking a prey and he is about to swop out of the tree and get his food.

This Picture Has good lighting and a goo angle from which the person looking at it can make his or her imagination work in the way they want it to work. I looked at this picture as if he was trying to make peace and dodge bullets and he trying to end a war that won't stop.

Scary Expressions

This Picture makes me thing of a horror movie when the guy's
face just turns into an ugly version of hulk. The red eyes means

that they are super mad.

This picture makes me feel very scared because if I were actually

at a cemertry by my self and my friend took a picture of me and I saw

this Ghost in back of me I would be scared.

This Picture makes me Feel scared of myself because if this were really

to happen I would Probably end up dead. Someone would kill me

because I would be eating PEOPLE from the inside out.

The Scream My Interpretation

He is screaming because he found out something he wasn’t suppose too. I think he found out that he was a monster and wasn’t good looking at all. He went to the river to probably jump off because he is ugly and not handsome so he just wants to die. He wanted to die so that the world wouldn’t have too looked at him again ever again. Another Reason for him to be screaming would have been because the sky’s were red so he thought the world was about to end for him. Also because he saw everything melting away and notices that he was melting too.

Creative Me

This project was an opportunity for us to put the tools we have learned to use. We were to take one of our portraits, and change it creatively using the following: selection tools, layers, adjustment layers, layer styles, blending options, paint brushes and opacity.

The thing I like is the way you can write and color as you want using diffrent colors.

I liked using the magnatic lasso the most it lets you pick what you wanna pick and then do what you want to it.

I feel very good about my photo shop knowledge because I know what each and ever tools does so far I hoping there is more tool so we can learn them too.

Adjustments

In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.

Self Portraits

For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible.One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle.

I like the one of the leading lines but I like my ROT because I think it captures a Mood.

My leading line for sure I will do better and also make sure its clean.

I really feel good about my portraits because it is nice to do something on me for once.

Contact Sheet

My Contact Sheet is a page I put together I really like how it turned out. My Sheet is the best if I had to pick. The thing I did well was that I was able to learn very quickly and I am happy with the progress I have made in this class. I could have probably picked better pictures next time and also were going into winter so we should have some fun with that. Out of all of the compositional tricks I think the Croped one came out really good because I took my time with it and did some experiments with it and I liked it. If I had to pick a trick I liked working with it would be the crop because you can do alot of thing with that tool.

Cropping

Cropping is a trick that photographers do all the time, even if they don't realize it. Every time a photographer chooses to cut something out of his/her frame, before they snap the photo that is in essence cropping. We also have learned tools on Photoshop that allow us to crop an image after we have taken it. When cropping in Photoshop it is possible to improve our composition or change it completely.

Extreme Angles

Extreme Angles are so much fun because it’s up to you to find a fun angle to take the picture at like for example taking it from the bottom up or side ways. When you do this it is really up to you on how you want to take the picture it can be fun and hard sometimes but if you put some your imagination into it there is no limited as what you can’t do...

Macro

Macro is two things having to do with TEXTURE and another is DEPTH OF FIELD. What I mean about texture is getting closer than usual like the example I have. Depth of Field is when you focus on something and then the background get blurrier when you focus on the main point. To do this you have to hold you camera button half way down then it auto focus for you therefore getting the picture for you.

Leading Lines

Leading lines is a line of some sort leading the viewer into the picture. For example the main line is leading to me if you see the main crack on the floor its leading straight to me. Its just a line that leads to your main focus of your picture.

Rules of Thirds

Rules of Thirds are a very fun thing to do because it includes getting pictures at an angle but with the Camera pointing toward the Corner. That means the main thing is a corner of the picture.
